Chocolate Chip Banana Bread with a shot of Espresso

It’s all in the name, if you are a fan of chocolate (who isn’t, right?!) bananas & coffee, this recipe is for you! And even if you’re someone like me, who doesn’t quite like coffee but will have the occasional mocha, I promise you this is for you too! It’s quick, easy and a huge crowd pleaser!

A few useful tips:

  • Use super ripe bananas
  • If you’re using cold butter that you didn’t take out of the fridge quite early enough, melt it in the microwave for about 5-10 seconds. SERIOUS game changer!
  • Use a strong coffee bean for the espresso, quality really matters here as you’re only using a shot of it 🙂

  • 1/2 cup room temperature butter (if cold butter refer to tips above)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3-4 ripe bananas
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup walnuts chopped
  • 1 shot medium blend espresso
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (Optional: save some for garnish of top)
  • Handful of chocolate chunks for garnish

  1. Preheat over to 350F
  2. Make espresso shot & allow to cool
  3. Cream together butter & sugar in electric mixer or with a whisk until combined
  4. Add in eggs & vanilla extract & mix well
  5. Mash up bananas until mushy & add to wet ingredients
  6. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda & salt
  7. slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet & mix well
  8. Add in espresso shot
  9. Add walnuts (or nut of choice) & chocolate chips and mix to combine all ingredients
  10. Pour batter into greased loaf pan (I used individual disposable baking pans instead
  11. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips & chunks on top for garnish
  12. Bake for 45 minutes for individual loafs, or 1 hour for large pan
  13. Let cool completely before cutting & enjoy! 🙂
